CLEVELAND — Experts are weighing in on the grand jury’s decision to not indict the two Cleveland police officers involved in the Tamir Rice shooting. Rice, 12, was shot and killed by an officer at the Cudell Recreation Center. Rice was holding an airsoft gun that lacked the orange safety tip. Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis and Ohio State Senator Nina Turner debated the decision on WKYC. RELATED | Full coverage of the Tamir Rice case “To the community as a whole, justice has not been served,” said Turner. “That’s ridiculous,” replied Loomis. “Justice has been served.” Loomis stands by his opinion that if Rice would have complied with police orders, he would not have been shot. “Comply with the police officer’s orders,” said Loomis. “You will not get hurt if you do what a police officer tells you to do.
