OSU President Michael Drake says the grants will go to about 15,700 undergraduates next year, including about 3,000 students on Ohio State’s regional campuses.

Drake made the announcement at his State of the University speech on Thursday. It brings the total investment in his Affordability Grant program to $35 million over two years.

The program is part of a bigger effort to help students financially that includes an ongoing freeze on both tuition and mandatory fees for in-state undergraduates dating to the 2012-13 school year.

Last year, Drake announced a $400 million commitment over five years to lower students’ costs and improve the value of their education.
