CLEVELAND– A Cleveland man who authorities say threatened President Barack Obama is facing charges.
Jonathan W. Smead, 35, was indicted for threatening to take the life or inflict bodily harm against President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
On Feb. 28, Smead called the U.S. Secret Service in Chicago and was transferred to the Cleveland office. According to the indictment, he said “I want to kill President Obama,” and spoke about presidential assassins John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald.
The caller, who identified himself as Smead and even gave his Social Security number, also said he wanted to kill Democratic presidential candidate Clinton, the indictment said.
