The latest superhero did better than what industry insiders predicted.
Huffington Post reports that the latest installment of the “Spider-Man” franchise is set to bank over $117 million.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” makes it Sony Pictures second highest debut movie behind “Spider-Man 3.” Starring Tom Holland who plays a high school version of Peter Parker fighting for a spot on the covenant “Avengers.” Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), serves as Spider-Man’s mentor. Michael Keaton plays the big bad, and our girl Zendaya stars as Michelle Jones (“MJ”), Parker’s brainy classmate.
Industry insiders only predicted to gross $90 million on its opening week. However, with the film dominating social media up to opening week, experts said help get more interest in the film.
