It sounds cool to know that TV show “Live PD,” is following Columbus’ own police to show how they are protecting and serving our city. However, many inside the police force are worried that the show has become a distraction for officers.

Since November, the TV show crew has been filming in Franklin County. If you haven’t seen it, it’s like our own “COPS” but some are worried that when the cameras are on the officer’s behaviors change.

“It is my understanding that Deputies are ‘jumping’ CPD runs around the city. Especially when it involved LIVE PD and something ‘fun’ is occurring. This creates confusion for the public, unwanted media issues, officer safety concerns and jeopardizes the outcome for the victims,” says one commander to 10TV.

“They don’t have a strong enough pursuit policy,” a Commander told 10TV. “They chase everything. And if they’re coming into the city more, that creates a danger within the city of Columbus.”
