A 13-year-old boy was shot as he was leaving Weinland Park on Thursday, according to Columbus police.

Police said the boy was leaving the park just before 8 p.m. when he heard a gunshot.

He started to run and then he felt a stinging pain.

Police said that is when he was realized he was shot so he contacted his mother who took him to the hospital.

He is listed in stable condition, according to police.

This is the 5th shooting involving children in Columbus since May.
