Michael Jackson may gone to the after life, but that doesn’t mean he’s been forgotten by the living. The bottom line is that there are a lot of folks who still want to buy his music.

The numbers are in and “Michael,” his posthumous album, debuted globally at #1 in its first week of sales — with over 3 million albums sold.

According to Sony, the album has already gone Platinum in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Canada, Korea and the Middle East.

On the other hand, the album’s success is somewhat tempered, because in the US, it placed third in sales behind Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle.
