According to 10TV, Columbus Police are investigating a shooting involving a child in east Columbus.

It happened shortly after 12:00 a.m. Thursday near the area of Mount Vernon Avenue and North 20th Streets.

Detectives say a mother, her 3-year-old child, 7-week-old baby and the baby’s father were driving into the Mount Vernon apartment complex, when someone fired shots at them.

Officers tell 10TV the baby was grazed in the head and taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The baby’s condition has since improved.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the mother was shot in the arm. She was taken to Grant Medical Center, but is expected to be okay.

Officers identified the mother and son as 23-year-old Jazmen Pettigrew and Mekhi Green-Pettigrew.

Police have not released any information on a possible suspect.
