According to Fox 28, Columbus Division of Fire officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a rental office on the east side of Columbus at Wellington Woods apartments.

The fire started just after 5:20 a.m. Sunday and took firefighters about 20 minutes to put out.

Fire officials say they suspect the fire started in front of the rent office building. Luckily no one was inside at the time.

The flames were so intense they caused the roof to collapse.

Employees who manage the rental office stood by and watched firefighters battle the flames. They did not comment about what happened.

Neighbors say a fire broke out a few weeks ago around the same area of Wellington Woods apartments. One neighbor said she saw a trash can on fire in front of her apartment. She said she noticed a small fire break out at an apartment just a few hours afterwards.

While fire officials are investigating this incident, they say don’t believe the fire is suspicious.
