The #TuesdayNightFlashback to 1979 is going down at 8pm! Each week we take a trip back to yesteryear to reflect on the good times. Sometimes we’ve gotta be reminded of where we’ve been to be grateful for how far we’ve come. The year 1979 was glorious and marks a time of many firsts.

Check out the playlist coming up at 8 o’clock to hear some great sounds from 79’. Don’t forget to LIKE us on Facebook for all things #LoveAndRnB, including the nightly scenario discussion coming up right after tonight’s feature.

Below we’ve listed a few “firsts” that changed the game so much, they’re still a part of our culture.

  • In 1979 the world was introduced to the Sony Walkman at a sales price of $200.
  • ESPN, the first network dedicated to the sports fan, launched September 7th, 1979.
  • C-Span, the first network dedicated to public affairs, launched March, 19th, 1979.
  • Michael Jackson released his first solo album “Off The Wall” on August 10th, 1979 which was the beginning of his reign as the ‘King Of Pop’. We think it’s fair to say no one has taken that throne since.

Here’s one of the 4 top 10 songs from MJ’s record breaking album “Off The Wall.”
