Michael Jackson Testifies At Trial

Michael Jackson is headed to the small screen.

According to reports, producer J.J. Abrams is teaming with Tavis Smiley and Warner Bros. Television to adapt Smiley’s upcoming book, Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days, as a TV series.

The book is described as a “taut novelistic rendering” of the final months in the pop superstar’s life.

Via The Hollywood Reporter:

The book examines Jackson’s highs and lows—including his constant hunt for privacy in a life that was more public than almost any other and the pressures he endured as someone whose fame made him socially fragile and almost unable to live.

Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot (in partnership with Tavis Smiley TV & Film), revealed in April that they are also developing a television series about Smiley’s 2014 book, Death of a King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Final Year.

Before You Judge Me will be released Tuesday (June 21) by Little Brown and Co.
