Researchers in Indiana attempted to conduct an accurate study about the size of the average man’s erect penis, but that’s not an easy task. Evidently, actually measuring doesn’t work so well because, understandably, guys don’t really get it up when a scientist is watching them with a ruler. But asking guys to just report the size is also kind of a downer (Get it?/Sorry!) because they are possibly lying their faces off.
Or not? In this study, the scientists attempted to incentivize honesty by telling the men they were custom-fitting condoms based on their penis size, so it wouldn’t fit if the participants lied either way. (Which was actually true: This was part of a larger study on condom fit.)
In conclusion, they found that the average size of an erect penis was about 5.57 inches. Which measures up to previous research…pretty much exactly! Previous studies with self-reporting were very much in line with this new data, so as it turns out, men are pretty willing to be honest about their peen size. As they should be, since a) size doesn’t really matter that much, and b) I mean, anyone who sees it is going to know the truth anyway.
